Everything you need to set up, manage, and grow your Nextcloud hosting — from first login to advanced configuration.

Introduction

LLUW provides managed Nextcloud hosting on KVM-based virtual machines with Enterprise NVMe storage and 40/100 GbE networking. This documentation covers everything from signing up to day-to-day management of your instance.

Quick Start

From sign-up to a running Nextcloud instance takes about 5 minutes. Here's how it works.

1

Create an account

Go to lluw.it/register and sign up with your email address. You'll receive a verification email — click the link to activate your account.

2

Choose a plan

Navigate to New Server in the control panel and pick a Nextcloud plan. All plans include a pre-configured Nextcloud installation on a dedicated KVM virtual machine.

3

Complete payment

Billing is handled via Revolut. Pay by Visa, Mastercard, or your Revolut wallet on the secure payment page. Subscriptions renew monthly on the same date each month. A PDF invoice is generated and emailed to you automatically.

4

Your VM is provisioned

Once payment is confirmed, your Nextcloud VM is provisioned automatically — usually within 2 minutes. You'll receive an email with your instance URL and login credentials.

5

Log in and change your password

Open your instance URL, log in with the provided credentials, and immediately change your admin password under Settings → Security in Nextcloud.

Provisioning time: VM creation typically completes within 2 minutes after payment confirmation. If your instance isn't accessible after 10 minutes, contact support via the control panel.

Account Setup

Configure your account details before or after your first deployment. Keeping this up to date ensures your invoices are legally valid and you receive important notices.

Company & billing details

Go to Account → Company Details in the control panel. Fill in your company name, registered address, country, and VAT/organisation number. These details appear on all your invoices.

EU customers: If you have a valid VAT ID and are purchasing for a business in another EU country, enter your VAT ID to have reverse charge applied (0% VAT). Without a VAT ID, Swedish VAT at 25% will be added.

Billing email

By default, invoices are sent to your account email. You can set a separate billing email under Account → Billing Settings — useful if invoices should go to an accounts department rather than your personal address.

Currency

The default billing currency is SEK. If you prefer EUR, contact support to switch your account. Prices in EUR are calculated from the SEK amount.

Accessing Your Instance

Your Nextcloud instance runs on a dedicated VM. You access it via a web browser at your assigned URL.

Finding your instance URL

Your instance URL and credentials are shown in the control panel under Servers → [your server] → Overview, and are also included in the provisioning confirmation email.

First login

Open your instance URL in a browser. Use the admin username and temporary password from your welcome email. You'll be prompted to change your password on first login.

Security tip: Change your admin password immediately after first login. Use a unique, strong password and consider enabling two-factor authentication in Nextcloud's Security settings.

Connecting via WebDAV

Nextcloud exposes a WebDAV endpoint for mounting as a network drive or syncing with desktop clients:

WebDAV URL
https://your-instance.lluw.it/remote.php/dav/files/admin/

Use your Nextcloud username and password to authenticate. On macOS, use Finder → Go → Connect to Server; on Windows, map a network drive.

Mobile Apps

The official Nextcloud apps for iOS and Android give you access to your files, contacts, calendar, and more from your phone.

Installation

Install the Nextcloud app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Open the app and enter your instance URL when prompted for the server address.

Connecting

1

Enter server URL

On the login screen, type your instance URL (e.g. https://your-instance.lluw.it) and tap Next.

2

You'll be taken to your Nextcloud's login page in the app browser. Enter your credentials and tap Grant access.

3

Enable auto-upload (optional)

Under app settings, enable Auto Upload to have photos and videos automatically backed up to your Nextcloud.

Desktop sync client

The Nextcloud desktop client (Windows, macOS, Linux) keeps a local folder in sync with your cloud storage. Download it from nextcloud.com/install. Use the same server URL and credentials.

Storage & Quota

Each plan includes a fixed storage allocation. Storage is backed by Enterprise NVMe on your dedicated VM.

Plan storage limits

PlanStoragevCPUsRAM
Starter 20 GB 1 3 GB
Standard 50 GB 2 8 GB
Pro 250 GB 4 16 GB
Enterprise 512 GB 8 32 GB

Checking your usage

In Nextcloud, click your avatar (top right) → Settings → Personal info. The storage bar shows how much of your quota is used. Administrators can view per-user quotas under Administration → Users.

Need more storage? Plan changes aren't self-service yet — open a support ticket from the control panel and we'll help you move to a higher tier.

Apps & Plugins

Nextcloud supports hundreds of apps for collaboration, productivity, and integration. You can install them directly from within your instance.

Installing apps

Log in as admin and go to Apps (click your avatar → Apps). Browse by category or search by name. Click Enable or Install & Enable on any app.

Recommended apps

AppCategoryDescription

VAT & taxes

Prices shown above exclude VAT. The following rules apply at checkout:

  • Swedish customers: 25% Swedish VAT (moms) is added.
  • EU B2B with valid VAT ID: Reverse charge applies — 0% VAT. You are responsible for declaring the tax in your country.
  • EU consumers / no VAT ID: Swedish VAT at 25% applies.
  • Non-EU customers: No VAT charged.

Invoices

A PDF invoice is generated automatically for every payment — initial subscription and each monthly renewal. Invoices are legally valid across Sweden, the EU, and internationally.

Finding your invoices

All invoices are available in the control panel under Billing → Invoices. Click any invoice to download the PDF.

Invoice delivery

Invoices are also emailed to your billing email address immediately after each successful payment. If you haven't set a billing email, they go to your account email.

What's on the invoice

  • LLUW company details and logo
  • Your company name, address, and VAT/org number
  • Sequential invoice number and issue date
  • Line items with description, quantity, unit price
  • Subtotal, VAT amount (or reverse charge note), total
  • Currency (SEK or EUR per your account setting)

If an invoice has incorrect company details, update your Company Details in account settings. Changes take effect on future invoices. Contact support if you need a corrected invoice for a past payment.

Changing Your Plan

Moving to a different Nextcloud tier — up or down — isn't a self-service action in the control panel yet. Our team handles the migration for you.

How it works today

Open a support ticket from the control panel Help menu and let us know which tier you'd like to move to. We'll confirm the new price, agree a time, and take care of migrating your data to the new tier.

In-panel plan changes are on our roadmap. Until then, a support ticket is the fastest way to move between tiers.

Profile & Company

Keep your contact and company details current to ensure invoices are accurate and you receive all account notifications.

Profile settings

Under Account → Profile you can update your name, email address, and password. Note that changing your email triggers a verification step.

Company details

Under Account → Company Details:

  • Company name — appears on invoices
  • Registered address — street, city, postal code, country
  • VAT / org number — required for EU reverse charge
  • Billing email — where invoices are sent (falls back to account email)

Security

Keep your LLUW account and your Nextcloud instance secure.

Account password

Change your portal password under Account → Security → Change Password. Use a unique password not shared with other services. Passwords must be at least 10 characters.

Nextcloud admin password

Your Nextcloud admin password is separate from your LLUW portal password. Change it inside Nextcloud under Settings → Security → Password. If you lose your Nextcloud admin password, contact support for a reset.

Two-factor authentication: Enable 2FA in Nextcloud via Settings → Security → Two-factor authentication. We recommend the TOTP app (e.g. Aegis, Authy, or Apple Passwords).

SSH access

SSH access to the underlying VM is not enabled by default. If you require server-level access for advanced configuration, open a support ticket — we'll set up key-based SSH access for you.

FAQ

Are backups included?

You can take an on-demand snapshot of your server from the control panel at any time — see Our Platform for how. Nextcloud also has a built-in Deleted Files (trash) feature that keeps deleted items for 30 days. For additional backup granularity, you can install the Backup app from the Nextcloud app store.

What happens if I miss a payment?

If a monthly renewal payment fails, you'll receive an email notification. We retry the charge over the following 3 days. If the payment remains unsuccessful after that, your VM is suspended (not deleted) and you'll have 14 days to resolve the billing issue before the VM is permanently removed.

Can I use my own domain name?

Yes. After provisioning, you can configure a custom domain by pointing a CNAME record to your instance hostname and then setting it in Nextcloud's config. Contact support and we'll walk you through the process.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Servers → [your server] → Danger Zone → Cancel Subscription. Your VM will remain active until the end of the current billing period. No refunds are issued for partial months.

What OS does my VM run?

All Nextcloud instances run on Ubuntu LTS. The Nextcloud application and its dependencies are pre-installed and pre-configured. Operating system updates are applied automatically during a weekly maintenance window (Sunday 02:00–04:00 UTC).

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Yes — if you're not satisfied within the first 7 days, contact support for a full refund of your first month's payment.

How do I contact support?

Open a support ticket directly from the control panel via the Help menu. We respond within 1 business day. For urgent issues, mention "URGENT" in your ticket subject.

Our Platform

Your Nextcloud runs on LLUW's own cloud platform, built on Apache CloudStack. Running a full cloud platform — rather than reselling space on shared hosting — is what lets us give you a real, dedicated virtual machine and the controls that come with it. And because we operate that platform for you, you get all of it without ever having to manage the infrastructure yourself.

Fully managed for you

When you sign up through the web, LLUW runs the entire platform on your behalf — the CloudStack infrastructure, the networking, and the automation behind it. You get the control panel and your Nextcloud instance; you never have to log in to CloudStack, learn it, or operate it. Everything you need day to day lives under Servers → [your server].

What running our own platform gives you

Because your Nextcloud sits on a real virtual machine rather than shared space on someone else's server, we can offer things ordinary shared hosting can't:

  • Automated provisioning — your VM is deployed automatically the moment your payment clears, typically live within a couple of minutes, with no manual setup on your part.
  • A dedicated virtual machine — CPU and RAM reserved to you, not a shared container, so a noisy neighbour can't slow you down.
  • Snapshots you control — take a point-in-time snapshot before a risky change and roll back to it if something goes wrong, straight from the control panel.
  • Direct controls — start, stop, reboot, or rebuild your server yourself, without waiting on support.

Your data stays put on a failed payment: if a renewal payment fails, your account is flagged past-due and your server is kept during a grace period rather than removed immediately — so you have time to sort out billing and keep your files.

Hardened by design

You never hold the platform's own infrastructure credentials. Every action from the control panel passes through a filtering gateway that permits only a limited, safe set of operations, and only against your own resources. You keep full self-service control over what matters day to day, while the infrastructure underneath stays locked down.

Direct API & custom setups

Web-signup accounts don't get direct access to the underlying CloudStack API — it isn't a toggle in the panel. If you need programmatic access, or a more custom setup than the control panel offers, that's something we deliver and help you run as an integration or managed-hosting engagement rather than a self-service feature.

Need something more custom? API access and bespoke setups are services we scope with you, not self-service features. Open a ticket from the control panel Help menu and our team will help you find the right approach — we respond within 1 business day.
